If you have ever played sports, or have a child on a team, you know there is always a Team Mom. She's the one that sits in the dugout, or on the sidelines, that is the strength behind the coach. She sees that player's turns are in order, that noses and tears are wiped, money collected, uniforms fit, and snacks are ready. She's the one that everyone looks to for answers about schedules, gripe to, and in the end, select an appropriate "thank you" gift for the coach.
As mothers, we are the Team Mom of the house. We are the strength behind the dad, and sometimes are both mom and dad, as we raise our children. We wipe away tears as we hold ours back. We must stretch our income, as we help our sons and daughters stretch their imagination. We are taxi drivers and motivational drivers. We are executive chefs at home as we answer to executives at work. We are teachers as well as students....especially when it comes to today's homework!
We play for one team, and that's our family team. We are cheerleaders when our kids excel, and cheerleaders when they struggle. We have one goal in mind: to see our little ones succeed as adults that contribute to making life better for themselves and others. We seldom get that "thank you" gift or trophy. But what we get is the greatest gift of all.....that little one, or big one, putting their arms around you and saying "you are the best mommy in the whole world!"
I heard those words yesterday, and my heart just melted. I have to be tough so much of the time, but can turn to Jello in an instant. "Team Mom". Yep, that's me, and I wouldn't trade that position for any other!
